I replaced my GPU yet still can’t see the screen.
Hello, I recently purchased a new GPU and connected it to my PC. I previously gave away an RX 2060, which worked fine, but now using an RX 3060 causes the display to appear blank. I have a Ryzen 5 3600 that likely lacks built-in graphics, so I can’t replace its drivers or anything similar. I’ve tried draining the motherboard battery by removing it while keeping power on for a short time, but it didn’t help. I’m unsure what to do next and need some guidance.
Have you attempted reinstalling the new graphics card and using a different PCIe power cord from your power supply? A GPU going dark is common. You might also consider sending it back for repair or replacement.
I haven't tested that yet, should I attempt a different PCIe port then, or would it be better to replace it?
This might be an alternative approach. I’d focus on adjusting one element at a time rather than applying several changes simultaneously. Usually, placing the GPU in the first x16 slot works best. The remaining connections are typically split for NVME.
Did you refresh the BIOS prior to taking out the previous CPU? It might be that the board predates the 3600 and doesn’t know how to handle it. Is there a BIOS flashback option? If not, you could face issues since the replacement had to happen before discarding the old one.
The system includes a flashback feature, but I wasn’t aware of the update process. I’m unsure about activating it—do I just press the button or is there more to it?
He likely swapped CPU and GPU. You don’t have to refresh your BIOS when swapping graphics cards. Upgrading the CPU isn’t necessary in this situation. Have you made any headway? What attempts have you made so far?
I attempted to switch the PCIE slot, but it didn’t help. I considered replacing the M.2 solid disk where the operating system resides and reinstalling it on a new one, hoping that would avoid driver conflicts with the GPU. I’m still unsure if this approach is effective.
