I frequently restart and regain access to my account. However, after a couple of minutes I’m redirected back to the login page. Re-entering my password or PIN works temporarily, but I’m quickly sent back to the login screen again, as if I’d just left. This cycle repeats for 2-3 minutes until I restart my computer, at which point it restarts the same process. If I log into another account, the same pattern occurs for 2-3 minutes. I’ve had McAfee antivirus installed and haven’t downloaded any updates in about two weeks, so I suspect it’s not a virus. Any advice on resolving this issue? This applies to Windows 10 as well.

LMFAO that Macafee is worse than a virus bug, just saying. (Windows built-in antivirus is way better.) Your keyboard is fine too? No WINkey+L stuck? That would take you straight to the login screen.

Based on the information provided, this problem might stem from a Windows Update failure. It appears stuck in an endless loop, requiring the computer to be logged off. For testing, temporarily disable the Windows Update service via the Services manager and observe if the issue resolves. If fixed, it indicates a surface-level fix but not the underlying cause. Proceed with DISM commands to scan and repair the operating system, and remember to rename the SoftwareDistribution folder to avoid corrupted updates.
