Hey everyone. I originally had just board photos when assembling this PC, but somehow lost them all. So here are the pictures I have now. Let's talk about the impressive Asus Rampage V Extreme. Compared to most recent boards, many lack the advanced features you'd find on newer models, which seems strange. This board is likely worth up to $100, and it outperforms those in the $400-$500 range. Let's look at some key differences: 1. Plenty of PCI-E slots—most new boards only have 2 max. 2. Numerous SATA ports; newer boards with AM5 or Z690/Z790 usually cap at 4. 3. Q-Post debugging feature, absent in most boards under $300-$400. 4. Eight DIMM slots, a nice upgrade from the standard four found on mid-range boards. 5. A physical start/stop button, exclusive to Formula/Extreme models. 6. Twelve USB ports, while many mid-range boards offer six, high-end ones often have eight or more. The rest of these boards would probably be covered in detail based on my experience. The only drawback is just one NVMe port, which isn't a big deal since I mainly play older games and regular SSDs work fine.

Current AM4 and AM5 chipsets support eight SATA ports directly, while the CPU provides four SATA ports. However, demand for SATA ports has declined, so many manufacturers remove them to free up PCIe lanes for M.2 slots. Due to limited PCIe options, some designs include an extra PCIe x4 slot, which can disable certain SATA and USB ports. Several USB ports on the rear are built with ASMedia controllers rather than the chipset, introducing latency, compatibility issues, and potential problems with high-speed connections.

B650 Liver Mixer features 13 Type A and a Type C configuration. The balance between AM5 boards often shows 11 Type A with a Type C, giving roughly 12 units overall after an adapter—similar to the Rampage setup. I agree that X99/X299 represented the pinnacle of motherboard expansion planning; those boards excel in that area, though they aren't necessarily the absolute best. Initially, the R5E10 is essentially the same platform but with a much stronger VRM. When you compare premium boards to more affordable options, the differences become apparent except for the absence of PCIe slots on many mid-range models.

Someone maintains dual Ethernet connections, and the board includes Wi-Fi built-in, which was a thoughtful addition at the time of release. It also features Bluetooth integrated into the antenna.

I've relied on dual LAN more often than WiFi. It's extremely helpful for workstation tasks where X99 was appropriate.

2. SATA technology is becoming outdated. Many systems now lack a single SATA drive, opting instead for NVMe M.2 drives. Beyond traditional HDD storage, the cost of SATA ports isn’t justified when SSDs are priced similarly or better.

3. A specific feature I mentioned would be useful for some users but not essential for most.

4. RAM capacity has grown, so adding more DIMM slots isn’t necessary on consumer boards. This applies to X99 systems as well, which usually include eight slots—similar to modern workstations.
