While testing my setup on 3dMark, I noticed a reading indicating my Ryzen 5 3600 reached up to 5.3 GHz. This was unusual and my CPU temperature spiked to 93°C without any overclocking. I’m confused about what caused this and how to fix it. It feels risky because it might have briefly hit 5.3 GHz without any intentional changes.
I believe it might be wise to run another benchmark and track temperatures using a different tool for backup. CPU: R5 3600, GPU: MSI RTX 3060 ti, Motherboard: B500 Gaming Plus - MSI AIO, Cooling: Deepcool 240mm Castle RAM, RAM: 16 GB, 3600 MHz single channel (dual was unavailable)

It’s probably your motherboard employing AMD’s boost algorithms to automatically adjust the CPU temperature during heavy tasks like 3DMark, which is raising the heat. A 93°C reading isn’t typical for a 240mm AIO, so there might be an issue with the mount or paste, but it’s still safe to run for the duration of the test without immediate concern. If you’re doing long, CPU-heavy work such as compiling code or transcoding videos with HandBrake, consider using isopropyl alcohol and fresh thermal paste. Reapplying the paste after a longer session—especially if you slow down decoding—can help protect your CPU and keep performance stable.
