I just assembled a Z97A i54690k GT970strix HyperX 1600MHz in an H440. I also purchased a slim DVD writer, booted Windows through BIOS but got an error saying the file is missing and I need to fix my computer. After resetting the boot priority to the drive/writer, I stuck only one stick in the A2 slot and used an 850 EVO as the boot option while the HDD was unplugged. I’m unsure if I should flash a USB drive first or install Windows directly. This is my first build and I’m not sure what steps to follow during a fresh installation.

It seems your disc might be damaged. You could try cleaning it or replacing it with a new one.
