Just completed assembling my first self-built PC. The CPU, cooler, and GPU are all included and should function correctly according to the manufacturer's instructions. The case, motherboard, RAM, and power supply are brand new. I added an M2 drive from my old computer, which is clean. The system powers on and lights up properly. RGB fans, GPU fans, and CPU cooler fan are all operational. However, there are issues: the keyboard and mouse don’t respond when plugged in. I tested both USB ports but got no response. Also, no video signal appears on the monitor even though the GPU is connected. I’m unsure what might be wrong—could it be a loose 24-pin connection, improper RAM installation, or the M2 drive not working? Thanks!

Certainly! Here are the parts I need to start:

- Core components
- Supporting elements
- Functional aspects
- Required tools or materials

Ensure the keyboard and mouse are connected via the motherboard USB during initial setup to avoid front-panel issues. If you have an Intel CPU and a video output on the board, detach the GPU and link the motherboard’s video port to your monitor. Confirm all power cables are securely attached. The board uses a 24-pin connector plus a CPU 4+4 or 6+2 power cable. Sharing your component list will aid us—on the forum—by helping you check compatibility and resolve problems.

Here are your parts listed differently:

- Motherboard: AsRock A520M-HDV, brand new CPU Ryzen 5 2600, used cooler Wraith Spire, RAM 1x8GB G.Skill TridentZ RGB 3200MHz, sourced from a second PC drive – Samsung 980 M.2 SSD 1TB, PSU from a second PC – Fractal Design 650W Ion Gold Modular ATX, new GPU Asus Dual Series GTX 1060 3GB, used PC case with pre-installed fans – Aerocool Trinity Mini v3, thinking that’s everything. I also intended to mention before that turning on the computer also activates the RGB RAM lights along with other components.

I connected two wires to the motherboard—one 4-pin CPU pin and another 24-pin main pin. The GPU required a single 6-pin connector. I wasn’t able to link the three fans because only two ports were available and there were no splitters. I also lacked an additional fan controller. Despite this, everything was connected and ended up using a SATA power male plug from the PSU. In the PSU, there are two plugs from the 24-pin, one from the CPU’s 4-pin, one from the GPU’s 6-pin, and one from the fan’s SATA power connection.

I recently checked the GPU on another machine. It performs excellently, provides a clear signal and gets recognized.

The issue is resolved. The motherboard isn't compatible with the CPU; it only works from generation 3 onwards.
