Based on the images from the reviews, it appears this adapter only includes the dock itself and not a USB-C connector. You’ll need to find an alternative way to power it since the dock requires 100 watts. Since your USB ports are standard Type A, you could connect a phone or laptop directly to the dock. Alternatively, if you have a device that supports USB-C and can draw sufficient power, that might work too. Your main aim is to link your Pixel 7a and an HDMI output for a larger screen, so ensure the setup supports that configuration.
It's better described as a USB-C multiport adapter. No power source is needed; it uses PD passthrough up to 100W. You can connect it to any USB-C host that supports it, and everything should function. Adding a 100W charger to the PD port will also charge the device, but it will draw from the host instead of the charger, reducing the available power. Most USB-C devices require only 15W, so they can operate independently or with the host providing power. If higher power was needed, a separate adapter would be required.
Regarding video playback from a P7A, it doesn't support DisplayPort Alternative Mode (DP-Alt mode), which is necessary for video output over a USB-C port. DPAM was introduced in the 8 series, but the P7A doesn't support it. This clarification was made on February 22, 2024 by SlayerOfHellWyrm.

Second thought: I assumed this might work based on advice I received, but I still went ahead because it could be useful and might come in handy. No issues there, buddy. I know this type of gear pretty well. Anything with USB-C data should work with most of it. Devices that support USB-C PD can also use the passthrough for charging, and those with DP-Alt mode can utilize the video output. The NIC (the Ethernet port) only functions with USB-C devices that either have the OS with native support for the chip inside or need a driver installed. These usually rely on Realtek RTL8153 or ASIX AX88179/AX88179A. Both chips are built into many products, including phones. I mean, it’s strange they don’t have a built-in NIC though.
