I bought a new HP SSD EX900 Plus with 512GB today at a discount. I installed it on my PC and noticed it’s running at full capacity whether I’m working or opening folders. The HDD light stays bright even when I’m not doing anything. Someone, could you help me? Here’s the Task Manager screenshot: on desktop there are no apps open, but it still shows high usage. Anonymous sharing is active and the HDD usage spikes during team switching in PE. It was slow like a 10-year-old HDD when I had a big load. How can I fix this?
Check CrystalDiskMark for expected performance metrics. Verify your chipset and storage drivers are functioning properly.
Is this the right direction? I'm new to M2 and don't have much experience with it.
This offers improved speed compared to what I anticipated from an HP SSD. Now I'm puzzled about why usage can sometimes be so high, but as long as performance is satisfactory it shouldn't cause issues. If it remains a concern, you might want to check the resource monitor to identify exactly where files are being read from or written to the drive (unless it only displays IO for all drives in one view, which I don't have). You could also attempt fresh driver installations. Additionally, inspect the device manager for details and settings related to your drive.
I don't usually run games on this setup because the drives have issues loading team badges and other features—it just shows a blank logo for Team in PES or freezes until it finds a badge.
