Hello, I recently purchased an AMD FX4300 PC with 8GB RAM, built on a Gigabyte motherboard. It was bought for around $134 USD and came with everything except a graphics card. The system runs smoothly, but I’m curious about gaming options. Since the processor is quite old, I’m thinking about upgrading, but my goal is to create a budget-friendly build rather than a high-end setup. Would it help if you suggested which components to keep and which ones might last longer? Please share your thoughts on specs and upgrades.

Hello there! The 250W PSU is quite restrictive. I’d really like to replace it with at least 500 watts. Right now, you should focus on finding a GPU that fits within that power limit. Something that doesn’t need extra external power, like a 1050 or even a 750Ti would be ideal.

There’s something off here. The Asus Prime A520M uses an AM4 socket, but you have an older AM3+ CPU. What @rollinlower mentioned is accurate too. A 250-watt rating isn’t that high, especially given the power-hungry processor.

It's a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 AM3+ board with PCIe Gen 2 support. Upgrading the GPU isn't necessary since the motherboard only has PCIe Gen 2. Would you like suggestions for RAM, PSU, or a dedicated GPU instead?
