I purchased a fresh 8GB RAM module, is it compatible with AMD APU?
I purchased a new Gskill Ripjaws V 8gb Ddr4 3200mhz 1.35V desktop RAM today. My upcoming prebuilt PC will arrive next month, so I can't test it until then. My build uses an AMD Ryzen 5 3400g, but the RAM box indicates Intel support for its core. The RAM model is F4-3200C16S-8GVKB, and it supports Intel XMP 2.0. Can anyone confirm if this RAM would work with my AMD system?
Big error, since you’re unsure if that stick is dead when it arrives. By the time you can test it, you won’t be able to return it, and you’ll have to go through longer warranty processes. But that’s just bad timing. I guess it should still work because Ryzen also uses DDR4. You don’t need to worry about what the packaging says about compatibility—it’s better to check the generations used by the CPU and board. The only exception is with some prebuilt units, which sometimes include extra chips for their own RAM. In that case, look up their Qualified Vendors List for approved RAM options.
