I need to reinitialize my BIOS to start up properly.
hello, i recently purchased an asus b350 prime-a motherboard with a ryzen 2400 chipset. i have a ryzen 5 2600 installed and need to update the bios from the shop. after spending a lot of time, when i reassemble my pc, it doesn’t power on properly—no fans spin, only keyboard and mboi lights come on. i tried shorting the cmos pins after removing the psu power cable, then replugged and restarted the system. it worked once, but now i’m unsure if this is safe or if there’s another solution. if it seems okay to you, i’ll let you know what to do next. if it causes issues, please tell me how to fix this problem.
Are you seeing any output after changing to the 2600? That’s what you’re asking about. If you moved from a 2400G to a 2600 or 2600X, remember that the 2600 lacks built-in graphics like the 2400. Unless you have a dedicated graphics card, it won’t display anything unless the system is properly powered. It also seems the motherboard isn’t turning on at all—check your PSU cables and connections to ensure they’re secure and correctly plugged in. Your front panel connections should also be verified. Please share your full specifications for better guidance.
A repair person suggested updating the BIOS for the stable release without any interruptions. I’ll give it a try. This is related to a device rated at 3 volts, but my voltmeter reads 5.5 volts during testing.
PSU works fine, PC also starts without issues. No worries when I try to boot after turning it on from no power. If something goes wrong during startup, I see the motherboard audio lights turn on but the fans don’t spin. I have to switch off the power and reset the BIOS by shorting the pins before turning it back on. System boots again if there’s a power cut or similar. I’ll send you a video if you need more details.
Yes, was that with the cell in your hand, or attached to the board? It's fine, I understood. You should try older bios firmwares.
Avoid using a CR2032 at 5.5 volts under any circumstances. Get a fresh replacement from a reliable source. Voltage sensitivity can impact devices, so it’s wise to ensure compatibility before use.
I believe it's best to choose Sony cells. I'll keep you updated.
