You can link your laptop to the old PC via Ethernet without a router. The PC should be able to detect the Ethernet port on the laptop and establish a connection. Check if the laptop supports basic networking features and ensure both devices are powered on. For guidance, look for tutorials on "connecting a laptop to an older PC using Ethernet" or similar searches.

The optimal method is to install a Wi-Fi card on the PC or use a long network cable connecting the router. Linking the laptop to the PC is much more challenging; you need to bridge the Wi-Fi signal to the LAN and configure the laptop as a router. Even with perfect setup, Windows may not function optimally. Follow the correct procedure.

You can transfer the Wi-Fi link from your laptop to your desktop using Ethernet via the Control Panel. This process is straightforward and requires only a few steps. While it may not match the speed of a direct router connection, it should function well and is very easy to complete. The main challenge lies in navigating through the Control Panel interface.

It doesn't function consistently (I haven't tested it) and requires adjustments to IP configurations, gateways, DNS, and sometimes DHCP. It's not just simple settings changes. When Ahmad tries it, he'll grasp the issue.

Are you sure this applies to what I've experienced? I rely on this feature often and it functions perfectly. You don't need to change any of the options.

They’ll just need to give it a shot and find out. Probably I’ve been very fortunate so far, but it’s never been a problem for me.

It functioned after some adjustments. I had to plug and unplug the cable multiple times, disconnect and reconnect it, but eventually it worked. Thanks for ProjectBox153. My laptop runs Windows 10 while my PC uses Linux Ubuntu—this might explain the success. I’m curious about safety and stability: can someone connect wirelessly to one of my devices? Is data transfer possible between these two systems? Also, since the connection seems to be wireless, does it require the device to behave like a router? Am I correct about Biomecanoid?

Linux offers greater reliability in these scenarios. To reach your devices, one must first link to your wireless router. Creating a Samba share works fine, but your current setup—WiFi → laptop → Ethernet → desktop—is accurate.
