i have a poor laptop even when browsing on google it keeps restarting every few seconds. i need assistance since i'm completely new to building a pc and only watched linus and jayz videos. i want to upgrade my hard drive with a 256 ssd and move the os to the new drive. i need to extract my files to an external hard drive. how can i do this? will it cause me to lose all the benefits of samsung like software updates and other features? i'm also planning to add more ram, so i want to know if a 4gb 800mhz is sufficient. if i install something like killing floor 2, should i watch some youtube videos while playing? i'm not a hardcore gamer yet because i don't have the budget for a high-end pc, but i mostly play mobile games like lol. thanks, sorry for being long. i think i'll buy a cheap 256 ssd, can you suggest options under $80?

Sorry, I wasn't looking. Do you have any idea on how to move an OS to an SSD?

swap in an SSD for the HDD and then reinstall Windows. Transfer your files using a budget USB-to-SATA adapter.

You should perform a fresh installation even if you have the OS already on your current drive. A clean install ensures all data is safe and avoids lingering issues. You’ll typically need a USB drive to transfer the operating system, similar to setting up a new computer. Make sure your drive is formatted correctly before proceeding.

Start by turning off the existing setup. Then proceed as if setting up on a fresh machine. Don’t forget to save your data from the hard drive before moving forward. It’s best to create a new system after reinstalling Windows and before adding any programs.
