I need some assistance with wiring or getting a keystone jack installed.
I feel really stupid because I've watched so many videos and I still can't figure it out. I don't know what's going wrong. Every time I build something and check it, the only thing that says "1" is right there. I'm pasting some pictures here hoping you could tell me exactly where I'm messing up. Image 1: Side view of the jack (using wiring scheme B) Image 2: Top down look at the wiring (it lines up with Image 1) Image 3: How I've been connecting the wires using a punchdown tool (the long part of the blade is on the away side from the jack)
Have you tried more than one jack? You might have broken it, so you just need to pull the wires out and put them back in over time until they wear out. Most people here recommend buying a tool instead of keystones they now sell. They say you save money on these tools because when you use a punch down tool it is almost foolproof. Just don't use it backwards, but then you'll see that cutting the wire off is much easier than pushing it into the block. You also need to make sure the right tool fits your wires correctly or you will have trouble getting them in properly. If they are not aligned just right then they won't even cut away the extra wire. Although your picture shows the tool looking good, please be careful using solid core wires that measure 22-24 inches in length.
Thank you so much for the support! I tried several different jacks and got back to work many more times than I could say. A brand new tool is arriving tomorrow with my fingers crossed that it works perfectly.
