I have a medium gaming laptop that handles most new games at high or ultra settings around 40-60 fps, especially when playing with vsyn. I want to run those games at 30 fps for smoother performance, since I don’t like the jumpiness at higher frame rates. There are many suggestions on how to achieve 30 FPS on PC that feel smooth like a console, but I’m unsure which ones work best. Could you help me understand the right steps to make my game run at 30 fps smoothly? My screen resolution is 60.030HZ. Thank you!

I’d approach it differently. I’d apply an FPS limiter, setting it to 30, as some games include this feature but there are other options available. This ensures a steady 30 fps unless your computer experiences drops below that. I’d skip V-Sync because it introduces lag and would make the experience worse at such low frame rates.

Adjust your screen resolution to 30 hertz and keep v-sync enabled.

Adjust the frequency to 30HZ, but note that the current display settings only allow up to 60.030HZ.

I think 30 fps should be half of 60 Hz scree, but my monitor shows 60.030, so the 30 fps setting might not make it smooth because it's not exactly 60 Hz.

The value 0.030 falls within the acceptable range of error.

That may not be an exact figure. There is usually some margin of error between the reading provided and actual frequency. It’s unlikely the reading 100% accurate.

Ensure the RTSS is set to 30 fps lock, and consider enabling low latency mode (ON or Ultra) along with fast vsync for better performance.
