I recently acquired a 5900x motherboard, spare RAM, a functional PSU, and a breadboard setup for testing. Everything was installed properly, including a power switch for testing. I pressed the go button and immediately got nothing—no beep, no lights, no LEDs, no fans. Previous attempts: CMOS reset didn’t help; another PSU also failed to activate. Even with a fat32 MSI flash image ready, it only blinked three times before stopping. In my 16 years building desktops, I’ve only seen this issue when a cable was loose or the board was faulty (RMA or BIOS flash). Some users claim certain USB drives don’t work, but I cleaned the drive thoroughly. Could the motherboard be missing power signals because of a required BIOS update? Sorry for the lengthy explanation—I just wanted to clarify my situation and get some advice. I’m upgrading from a 6700k, making this a significant investment.

Do you have all the necessary components installed? Is the graphics card missing? Did you forget to connect the CPU or GPU power cables?

Use the specific USB port that enables Flash BIOS functionality. 'Flash BIOS' works without installing the CPU, RAM, or GPU—just provide power via the PSU. Ensure the USB drive contains only the updated BIOS file; avoid any folders or subfolders. Connect the ATX 24-pin and CPU 8-pin cables.

I frequently check the manual for The MSI.ROM. It was positioned at the root of the USB port. I used a Samsung 64GB storage device. It fit properly in the designated slot (most gadgets prefer the USB closest to the CPU and mainboard). No need for a GPU to activate the system's power indicators. All connectors are firmly connected and verified, and all X3 power supplies are arranged correctly. As mentioned earlier, you don’t require a CPU, RAM, GPU, or SSD for the post-beep confirmation. The only response I noticed was three flashes on the FLASH BIOS button. I plan to test a native FAT32 SD card from a camera since I suspect the 64GB Samsung drive might not be compatible.

MSI MPG x750 gaming Wi-Fi edge with 8GB Corsair 3000mhz RAM and GTX 1070. I suspect the problem might be with the CPU compatibility, as I’m good at fixing software issues. On the other hand, hardware failure is really disappointing. Edit: All my USB storage cards use exFAT, so I’d avoid testing them if the drive isn’t a trusted Samsung model.

This requires placing the speaker for the beeps, as indicated by the friend. The beep codes are available in the AMI section. Refer to the dropdown in my signature for details.

It's not necessary for a speaker; it's already included on the motherboard.

It's under "2x System Panel Connectors" One is for power button, reset, HDD led, power led. The Second system panel header is 4 pins. "Should" be printed on the board "Spkr". ..... Let me pull the manual..... Page 33 dude.

If it doesn't emit a signal, initiate the return process. This discussion is for reference only.

You're asking about storage options. Do you have an 8GB or 16GB USB drive? I'm checking if the 64GB size might be the problem.
