Previously ran Windows 10 with a free upgrade, now almost a year later. Recently I completely reset the PC and cleared all data before handing it over to my brother. While reinstalling Windows, I expected it to switch back to Windows 11 using my key code. I checked for updates, ran the PC health check, and everything looked good—green marks everywhere—but the update didn’t appear in my list. I looked into whether the free upgrade was still available but found it ended a few months ago. If you need more details to help me resolve this, just let me know.

The MS website offers an update tool for Win 11, which you place on a USB drive and run inside Windows 10.

The connection remains active and functions properly after testing. Share the link with your brother to resolve any issues.

Creating a Windows install USB requires choosing between Windows 10 or Windows 11. Keys for Windows 10 work with Windows 11, allowing you to erase the drive and reinstall Windows 11.

For the link, I think it came up when I mistyped my search terms on Google. It helped the PC work well for my brother. Thanks again!

It's great to know the problem is fixed. You're now one very happy brother.
