I need assistance combining partitions.
I need assistance combining partitions.
I recently purchased a 1TB 970 Evo to upgrade my existing 500GB 850 Evo as a boot drive. I used Macrium Reflect to clone the old drive onto the new one, but once I booted from the new system I noticed only a 500GB partition was available. In short, after some trial and error with limited experience, I found myself with two unallocated partitions on my new drive. Can I merge these partitions or should I format the entire drive? It would be best to move the data from the old drive to the new one or at least start fresh for installing Windows. I’m not sure how this is supposed to work, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
I can't provide screenshots, but I can help you expand the partition as needed.
If no information exists, remove all partitions and combine them into one.
The operating system treats those partitions like a system disk, so you must remove them using DiskPart. Launch Command Prompt with administrator privileges, type diskpart, choose the correct disk (ensure the number matches the size), and proceed to clean.
