The PC components were functioning properly until the RAM issue appeared. The LED on the motherboard was red, and after plugging it in, the whole system stopped working except for the RAM LED. Whenever I restart the PC, only the RAM LED appears to boot. Someone, could you assist me? Here’s a summary of my parts: Motherboard: B650 AORUS ELITE AX B650 AORUS ELITE CPU: Ryzen 7 7800x Cooler: NOCTUA NH-U12A RAM: TRIDENT Z 32gb SSD: Samsung 970 EVO PLUS 1TB GPU: RTX 4060 TI PSU: MasterWatt 750 Bronze Case: ASUS TUF G501
I connect the LDD connector to the fan header, which sits just below the ATX port on the right side of the motherboard.
One unit needs to connect directly to ground, which should activate the short circuit protection on the power supply and shut everything down. The other would be linked to the fan controller's PWM signal via various grounds: -Ground, -DC, -Tach, -PWM FDD power at -12V or -5V depending on orientation. This likely means the controller is damaged. If it was running, its output DC would have been connected to ground, possibly without proper protection. It's unclear if controllers have safeguards against this scenario, and if not, it’s a serious issue.
there's a very good possibility you killed some hardware. You fed raw voltage down lines that aren't intended to do that. Board, CPU, RAM, and possibly other stuff could have been impacted. It'll take a lot more testing to figure out what happened.
