I made a really bad mistake.
I'm dealing with a frustrating situation here. I clicked on a quick survey in chat, which triggered a series of strange events. My screen flickered black several times before my computer restarted. Once back, I checked the C drive around the time it happened but found nothing suspicious. A scan with Defender came up empty too. My adblocker, which claims real-time protection, didn't help either. After switching to YouTube, the site started crashing repeatedly. I tried closing it multiple times without success. Right before the survey appeared, I noticed repeated spam messages from the same person, which made me realize something was off. Eventually, the crash happened, and I'm still trying to figure out what caused it. Any tips on resolving this?
Honestly, you have a good load of protections already but without knowing which Ad Blocker... can't know fully. I just know that Malwarebytes is consistently really damn good so it's worth using with Defender. I would have said you were fine, but the Youtube issues constantly say otherwise. Worth reinstalling Windows vs risking some shit hiding and waiting to grab something important.
It appears clearing the data might have resolved the issue. The screen flashed twice without the system crashing, though it hasn't done so recently. Using a restore point seems like a safe option if you want to avoid redoing work. I suspect the problem occurred at the time of the incident. Removing the browser and reinstalling might preserve your settings and bookmarks.
