I made a mistake in this step. [Windows 10]
Reinstall the standard Windows 10 image using the media creation utility. Remove Solitaire, Candy Crush, Skype, Get Office, and similar programs, and you're almost there. If you want an operating system that helps a slower old computer perform better, consider Lubuntu, Xubuntu, or Linux Mint Xfce. Although I enjoy Windows 10, it isn't ideal for older hardware.
