I lost ALL my open tabs in Firefox ?
I lost ALL my open tabs in Firefox ?
I had two Firefox browser windows running, I closed the main one, leaving the other open in the background.
I opened another Firefox window and attempted to "Restore Last Browsing Session," but the button was grayed out. The Tabs cannot be restored that way.
I created a copy of the Firefox folder and all of my Local/Roaming data.
Can you tell me how to restore those old tabs?
Are you referring to their browsing activity? You can access them from there.
Have you attempted using ctrl+shift+T? Occasionally, when I close my browser by accident and ended up with multiple tabs or browsers, I simply used the shortcut in Google Chrome, which should also function in Firefox. The advice given earlier might also apply.
It's unlikely, as there are many open tabs. The screenshot comes from the directory where the tab sessions are kept, but the latest recovery and older files are newer than necessary. Would you like me to try retrieving the previous session?
Shut down the Firefox browser completely.
Ensure no browser instance is active.
Navigate to the profile folder and change the name of the current session file
from sessionstore.jsonlz4
to sessionstore-backup.jsonlz4.
Access the sessionstore-backups folder for the profile.
Modify recovery.jsonlz4
to recovery-backup.jsonlz4.
Update recovery.backlz4
to recovery-backup.backlz4.
Select the backup you wish to restore, such as previous.jsonlz4.
Return to the main directory of your Firefox profile.
Insert the restored file into the root folder.
Rename it to sessionstore.jsonlz4.
Launch Firefox again.
The browser may automatically detect the session. If not, press Alt and choose History > Restore Previous Session.
The goal of keeping many tabs open is to manage and organize information effectively, though it may limit your ability to monitor each one closely.
why not using bookmarks?
or if you need them to have them ready...open some tabs, then right click on any random tab, select all tabs, right click again and choose "pin tabs".
this way only one firefox instance will have pinned tabs, the second one would start with empty tabs, pinned tabs won't disappear.
edit: nvm, seems to be some sort of firefox bug...after a few times opening/closing...even pinned tabs got lost.
edit2: just realised why it got messed up now....i have two firefoxes installed? one firefox.exe is in program files and another one at appdata/local? huh
I recognize my own darkness but find myself laughing at those "I had one bazillion tabs and lost them..." comments.
I struggle to understand why hundreds of tabs are necessary. If I required that many open and needed more than just bookmarks, I'd set up a basic two-column spreadsheet with notes and links.
