I keep having trouble with my computer going black and restarting, no matter how many parts I swap around to fix it.

Sometimes "same one" means something completely different than what you think. You have to read a lot of little rules on this subject. But if the speed option is greyed out, that's a problem for people who change the BIOS or overclock their CPU. I want to try working in Windows and see if we can get a mini-dump file made. Just keep in mind: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...um...edc6cf7774 Our goal is to make sure the right steps are taken and that the file ends up in the right place. Look around your system using *.dmp files to find any existing ones. Check how they're named and when they were made.
I tried this before, so I'll try again. Thanks! Then I'll just wait and check if the computer crashes and gives me a new file.
Crashed today too. Still no Minidump file. The Event Viewer shows me the volmgr error message, but I don't know what that means right now. I changed where it saves files and made a new folder called "Minidump" in my Windows folder to see if that helps. Also, I followed an old guide at this link: https://www.partitionwizard.com/news/eve...error.html to edit the registry settings like they said before. I thought I already did it, but maybe I messed up the first time and didn't finish editing everything properly? But now I was able to create one again.
I keep getting a volmgr error when I look at Event Viewer. Here are some screenshots for you to check out. What Minidump locations do you have as defaults? Where exactly are they showing up, and why would you want to move them around? No more Registry edits needed here. Editing the Registry is only for emergencies after you've backed everything up properly. Take your time. Think carefully before making changes.
Okay I won't touch the registry anymore. The minidump location I changed manually, it's in the picture. I will post the screenshots here. https://imgur.com/a/A8kaOAO View: https://imgur.com/a/A8kaOAO Turns out the volmgr error did not appear this time. Either way there's still no crash dump. I am currently running memtest with only one stick as I never got around to do it. First one was ok. I'll test the other one now.
