Hey there, I saw your post a while back. You bought a server from someone in Toronto at a great price, so the cost and condition weren’t a problem. He kept it running on a NAS setup and used it as a local media storage for his home. I’m facing some issues now—he’s using a very basic Debian setup with only the command line, and I need to understand how to remove Debian and replace it with Ubuntu. Also, I want to delete the media vault completely since it seems unusual. Any tips would be super helpful!

Yes, you can install the operating system directly from a USB drive.

I've set up Linux multiple times on new hard drives without needing to uninstall an operating system before installing a fresh one, so I'm unsure whether it's a wise move.

Just remove all the partitions and you get a fresh operating system. Probably you don’t mind any data on there yet.

It finally functioned, though the hard drive was deteriorating while Ubuntu shifted blame to the CPU.
