I searched for a suitable thermal paste locally in Egypt. The Coolermaster MasterGel Pro V2 wasn’t available, and my Amazon order was canceled without reason. I ended up using this alternative. After cleaning the old paste, the temperature dropped from 50-49°C to 42-40°C during idle. However, gaming caused it to rise to 87°C even at high load (for my i5-11400). Should I continue using it and risk damage, or should I take action soon? The 87°C during stress tests matches the expected range.

Using the stock cooler or a comparable model probably sets the limit, rather than the paste.

You're using the i5-11400 stock. I've also heard rumors about this paste being fake, as well as Master Gel. I'm worried I might have bought a counterfeit one—about 300 pounds and I can't afford it or get a refund since I used it already.

Thermal paste isn't the main issue at high temperatures. A poorly applied or dried paste can hurt performance, but that's not the core problem here. Buying premium thermal paste won't instantly lower temperatures by a large margin. The real causes are inadequate airflow and the average cooling ability of the standard Intel cooler. Since you've already used it, it's likely no longer available. It's similar to opening a chocolate box, taking a small piece, and then sending it back—it doesn't solve the problem.

Well, I guess I just had to keep it. I saw a Reddit thread pointing out the fakes, and luckily the impostors didn’t have anything on my packaging, so I really hope they’re genuine. Plus, the front QR code took me straight to their site and was recognized right away—still a bit unclear.

If the QR Code functions, it's probably genuine MX-4. I'm aware that Egypt experiences high humidity and heat in summer. If the temperature remains an issue, consider investing in a new CPU cooler.

I observed the issue is limited to just two games I play—Last of Us and Battlefield 4. Games like RE2 remake, RE3 remake, CSGO, and Dead by Daylight appear unaffected, with CPU temperatures staying around 62-58°C during those titles. The front QR code instantly identified it as from the Arctic website, and the back one read "Lucky.arctic.something something I can't remember," which also directed me to that site. Honestly, I’m not sure.

Applying the paste correctly changes the results significantly more than the brand you buy. You can use any good cooler with a decent one. Focus on case ventilation and the actual cooler itself. If I had to pick between the two, I'd choose the better case because it enhances all components like the GPU, capacitors, RAM, etc.
