I'm using the MSI 970 gaming board with an AMD Fx 6300 6 core 3.5GHz CPU. At first, my CPU only hits 1399.67MHz. When I try to overclock in BIOS, I follow several guides from people using the same board and CPU, even with the same GPU and RAM, but it doesn't work for me. On the BIOS screen, it says the CPU should be running at an overclocked speed of 4.2. My stress tests show a much lower 1.3GHz. What am I doing incorrectly?
I experimented with various Bios options and successfully resolved the issue.
