I wish Google created a small tool to substitute Cortana. That way, you wouldn't need an MS account for searches and voice commands.

The Google initiative would probably gather even more information than Cortana for their purposes, and Google Now is definitely in place.

Google Now functions like a voice search interface, similar to entering keywords and searching online. It isn't considered a personal assistant in the same way as Siri or Cortana.
