Never grasped the excitement around foobar2000... It feels like an outdated mix of iTunes and VLC Player. I personally prefer iTunes more. To be honest, I've never tried the latest Windows versions of iTunes, so their performance on Windows might not be ideal—uncertain... On OS X, iTunes functions flawlessly.

Attempting to switch off the Steam skin you own seems to be the issue. The program will examine the folder you choose each time you launch Steam, which could cause it to detect additional music files and include them in its list.
