Hi everyone, I accidentally damaged my motherboard while installing my GPU with the metal prongs. At the time, I didn’t realize what had happened. It’s been years, but recently I reinserted the GPU while cleaning the system and noticed the damage. I’m concerned it might lead to issues later. My worry is that if I keep talking through the process and reinserting it carefully, the scratches could worsen over time. It’s a bit of a nervous habit about keeping my PC in top shape, so I want it to last. Below are two photos of the scratches. P.D.: Sorry if I misspelled anything—I’m not a native English speaker.

I don’t see it, but your English is very close to being perfect.

Yes, highlight them; I can't see what's damaged. Or are you referring to the traces on the motherboard? Those are typical and part of the board.

You lightly touched the soldermask. It doesn’t seem like you removed the traces. Even if you had, you’ve been doing it this way for years. Nothing will shift in the future (besides this one).

The marks are positioned just beneath the GPU on the left side of the motherboard (as seen in the first photo).

If it functions properly now, everything should be okay. I believe there are no remaining marks near the edges of most motherboards.

It seems like you're confirming there won't be any problems down the line.
