I've been interested in joining Star Citizen for some time now. I'm curious about the types of ships available and what options are best for newcomers. I'm open to spending up to $100, but I'd prefer to keep costs lower. Thanks!

It's a solid choice for dogfighting, offering great performance and maneuverability.

The Avenger is an excellent mid-range ship. It offers solid firepower, good shields, armor, and moves quickly. Another strong choice is the 325A, which is faster and provides a more balanced firepower across all mounts. The Avenger comes with a large nose gun while the 325A has smaller wing guns.

I was engaging with and competing against our team members last night. At this point, for pure dog fighting, the 325A seems outmatched. (Note that the field was filled with Avengers thanks to the ongoing free test week.) I’m considering switching the 325A to a Gladius first. The 325A has advantages like extra cargo space, strong maneuverability, and surprisingly good afterburner/boost levels compared to the Avenger, which kept running out of it yesterday. From a weapons standpoint, the Omnomnomski on it can handle serious attacks, though they fire slowly. The Sledge II is also slow in speed. (Keep in mind that the 300 series is being updated right now—who knows what it’ll become.) Another option might be the Avenger, as suggested by @Adreyu.

I haven't faced any issues using it, though the Avenger is an excellent vessel. I really want to suggest a Mustang, but they still need to improve the shields.

I own a conny taurus and am satisfied with it right now. But once they launch that carrack—missed flash sale, CRY CRY CRY—and the 890 jump on sale comes, it could take it out of my hanger.

The M50 hasn't been released yet; it looks like a big project in progress.

M50 can be flown easily. It moves extremely quickly, lacks missiles and has modest weaponry. Think of it like a persistent fly near your head—hard to pin down.
