The location where I live seems to be on the edge of the cell tower, which likely affects network performance. I’m curious about whether buying a router would help improve my connection, especially given the issues mentioned. If it could make a difference, what would you suggest as a good option for this setup? Since I run servers and play online games with many players, I need a reliable solution. Also, is it better to upgrade my internet service along with getting a new router, or focus on the router alone? Thank you for your help!

Your internet connection relies on a cellular network. Even if you're near the weak signal, a fresh router won't improve it.

Improving your router can resolve the issue. The main problem is the length of the connection to the signal source.

So essentially, it seems you're considering switching to a different internet service provider. Appreciate your advice!

There are LTE gateways available that can handle connections from an external antenna. Typically, these are installed on the exterior of a home, with cabling running inside to connect to the gateway. I don’t have specific recommendations, just that they exist. Another choice is to switch to a different provider, though options might be limited.

Some sites I've visited suggest that local ISPs might not be reliable or could be unreliable, making it hard to decide what to believe about their quality.

Trust? Who has faith in their ISP? My provider was found restricting Bit Torrent and Netflix speeds. AT&T often misrepresents the availability of Fiber compared to copper. In Murica, you get what you can obtain. Irrespective of whether it's a major or unknown company, I’d recommend chatting with neighbors about their service choices.

I have and I believe most of them are using Bell(I'm Canadian) Which just so happens to be one of the only big ISP's that have connectivity here.
