I dont know why but i have been thinking about this for like 2 days now and in the known uneverse theres a operating sistem from microsoft, from linux (correct me if im wrong here) and the last one that's coming is steam OS, if there are any others please note them. So my idea is, well not so much of an idea more of a thinking thing, why are there only those 2-3 OSes? why arent there more of them. Than i came to some conclusions: a) it's F'ing hard to program that b ) eaven if it is programed you wount be compatible whit other programs c) and some others too much thinking for me in 5 minutes.... But what the most i would like is to see more operating Systems out there, im suprised that this kind of a thing didnt start like years ago, but never the les no one is speaking about it...

For mobile platforms, when an operating system isn’t widely supported, big developers won’t invest, leaving no software available. This creates an issue since there’s a strong competition between Windows, macOS (and a tiny Linux presence).

There are several notable categories: Windows, *nix, OSX, and Android. SteamOS is based on Ubuntu, part of the Linux group. Additionally, OSX might also belong to the *nix family.

There are countless operating systems, likely in the hundreds of thousands, with most people familiar with the popular ones. You're also ignoring Mac OS as a viable option.

I removed what I previously said because it ended up in the wrong thread. Probably since building your own OS is very challenging and takes a lot of time, money, and effort. For most people, a tailored program can handle the required task. This means we have too many operating systems available. It’s a shame they can’t all run smoothly on every platform.

I noticed you're thinking deeply about this. What I meant to express is understanding why certain groups—like Windows 7 users, Ubuntu users, Android users—dominate in specific areas. Why don’t more people choose freelancing or other options? It makes sense if we consider that most platforms are built around Debian, while others are older systems like Windows 95 to Windows 7. That’s probably why the landscape looks this way.

I believe you might have entered the wrong discussion. However, since others highlighted that there are many operating systems available, Linux offers various versions. I’m not sure why you’d be interested in seeing more OS options.
