Hey guys.
I built my own custom server as a complete solution, otherwise I’d end up with a full rack. I’m facing a problem because I originally had two 8TB and two 10TB drives in one storage pool inside a TrueNAS VM, using an LSI 9300 pass-through. It worked fine for a while. Now I’ve changed the drive arrangement after getting some new 3x 10TB drives and plan to remove the 8TB ones later.
I’m using one 8TB drive as a shuttle for my data and have already removed that one.
System specs:
Dual Xeon E5-2640v4
2x AIO Water coolers
425gb of DDR4 ECC
Gtx 1060 6gb
2x 1tb intel u.2 datacenter nvme in a dual pcie adapter
2x 1tb intel u.2 datacenter nvme in a dual pcie adapter (4 drives total)
1x 800gb intel u.2 datacenter nvme
5x 10TB western digital datacenter drives
1x 8TB HGST DC drive
LSI-9300 8i
4x 180mm fans
3x 80mm fans
Seasonic gold 1300w PSU
I’ve tried restoring it to its original setup, but I can’t get SATA power working. The best I’ve managed is one drive powered via SATA, and another on the same cable doesn’t turn on at all. One thing to note is that two drives are currently using Molex to SATA converters and they spin. All these drives are known to be functioning perfectly.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Initial impression is that the setup details or settings are surpassed or incorrectly arranged.
