Hey, I just switched from a i5 9600k to a much stronger i7 12700k (and changed my motherboard too). Since doing that big upgrade, I've been getting way too many crashes. The errors keep saying "irql not equal or less" and "system thread exception not handled." I tried following all the guides online just to fix it, but nothing worked. I updated every single driver piece of software on my PC as well. Honestly, I think this is because I'm using an old version of Windows 11 that wasn't meant for a high-end CPU like this one. Wish I hadn't signed up yet!

Have you done a new update for Windows 11, and are you using the most recent BIOS?

I had to change my hard drive BIOS settings because my M2 drives weren't working, even though this is the latest version. Since I keep using apps for school, I didn't take a total fresh restart of everything. Now that I'm back on an older BIOS setting and still getting crashes, I'm trying a full reinstall just to see if that fixes it.

Here is an update: I changed my computer to Windows 10 and started overwriting everything. My programs are gone. I'm still getting that blue screen error every time, so now I need to run a memory test.

Update from a few years ago: The problem was the memory sticks. I bought two boxes of 8GB each (both Corsair, running on the 3200MHz setting), but one wouldn't support XMP. So I just had to go back down to a slower speed instead.
