Don’t try to figure out the details, you won’t get a logical answer except for the fact I used a lot of THC right now. But thankfully, after my computer started showing weird display issues when I increased the RAM speed to its maximum, I’m starting to think more clearly. Unfortunately, it’s set to turn on automatically at startup, and now I’m not sure what to do. I hope there’s something in the BIOS I can fix, but I’m not sure what to try. I think you should enter the BIOS by repeatedly pressing delete when you power on your machine—check if that’s correct.
Choose f2, del, f8, f10 or f12 based on your machine manufacturer. After entering the BIOS, you can attempt to set it to optimized defaults. Then visit the provided link to help prevent the issue.
Adjusting configurations in MSI afterburner is unrelated to the system BIOS.
I attempted to start in safe mode but the system is stuck and displaying a message about loading Windows files at the beginning.
What are your computer specifications? Does it come with an integrated GPU?
It’s just an AMD Radeon HD 4800 series, and honestly, it wouldn’t be too upset if it stopped working. The fan is still spinning, so that might help us tell if it’s still alive. I also want to try safe mode again before replacing the GPU, but when I press f8 like instructed online, it just shows a boot device screen. I can’t figure out how to return to safe mode—I ended up on the Windows files recovery page after something like "Windows files recovery" appeared at the top, and the default was "Start Windows normally."
It varies based on the Windows version, how to enter safe mode. For Windows 7, press F8; for Windows 10, it requires additional steps. You might find helpful information online.
I faced a comparable problem. I disabled Afterburner in Safe Mode, also removed ZOTAC Firestrom. Since there were issues, I deleted and reinstalled the GPU drivers. Setting up system restore points beforehand is a wise practice.
