As mentioned earlier, your IP address isn’t private or confidential. Spreading unfounded claims about terrorism won’t help him and might lead to more complications than you think. Even if he shared something, the ISP would likely dismiss any random comments on YouTube as irrelevant. You’ve crossed a line for an internet defender, and he’s clearly upset. So what do you do?

Absolutely, he thinks he has some evidence. It’s possible he might be talking too much, but if he genuinely found something, I’m not sure what it was. Should I ask my internet service provider to update my IP address just in case?

You’re more likely to receive a changing IP address, which occurs occasionally. You don’t have to manage your IP manually.

When the lease ends, it's similar to your PC. You get an IP from your router. After that period, it requests a new one.

Usually around 14 days, though the IP address might stay active longer than one cycle. Verify your current IP and see if it matches what he mentioned. If they match, turn off the router briefly, then reconnect and test again.

Or if you prefer speed, contact your ISP to update your address.

Sure! That should update your IP address, making it less useful for the hacker on the network and the ISP.

The old thing no longer serves its purpose, it no longer connects with you.
