You clicked a suspicious link on YouTube and now you’re worried about your data. It’s smart to contact your internet service provider right away. Explain the situation clearly, mention that you didn’t intend to share personal information, and ask them to review any reported comments from your history. Keep records of their response for your reference.

You didn't save anything from that page, so just close it and disregard it.

The issue involves using a link referred to as a "drive by" page—essentially a fake site that loads but redirects you elsewhere without your awareness. It’s unclear what exactly occurred.

Make sure you haven’t shared any private details such as social security numbers or credit card information. Please ensure your antivirus is up to date and perform a complete system scan.

Your IP address isn't that confidential after all. Unless you saved any files, added software, or shared personal details, you should be safe. A firewall on your router is likely active. Consider running a virus and malware check for extra security.

He managed to figure out my ISP, which makes me wonder how much he knows. I switched all my linked emails and went into full lockdown. I even used a VPN—though if he has one, it might not help much. He says he did some personal information about me, so what should I do besides securing my accounts?

Your IP address isn't private. The forum moderators can view both your IP and the email you provided during registration. Have you used a VPN before or after?

After obtaining the IP address, identifying the ISP is quick. However, pulling IPs from YouTube comments isn't straightforward. It might have been a chance guess regarding the ISP. Also, only you and possibly Google can view your comment history—any claims made by the ISP could be disputed. Your past remarks, like calling someone a dick, aren’t publicly accessible unless you intended to. Unless the ISP shared specific details or the malware/virus scan cleared everything, you’re likely safe. Consider changing passwords for peace of mind and move on.

I’m mainly worried about him labeling my YouTube comments as terrorism... really. I think he might be inserting the terrorism label to set up a false flag, kind of like swatting. When he posted a link, I clicked it by accident and suddenly found myself on a disguised page that captured my IP. I don’t know what he’s planning, but I’m taking everything cautiously. Also, he took screenshots of these interactions.

Hey, they told me I searched for illegal stuff like copyrighted videos and used the dark web. They also said they have my IP address and all my PC data, claiming they’ll use this info to charge me for crimes I’ve never heard of. I didn’t care about it, and they didn’t show up. I haven’t run any virus scans either.
