I switched to a fiber optic internet service and the connection is stable (ping between 70–80). Since I haven’t upgraded to an HDD, my main activity is playing Roblox. Recently, I experienced random disconnections with error 277, which could cause my ping to drop and disconnect me. Friends and online communities with this provider reported similar problems. Some suggested using a VPN or a third-party router, but I’m unsure which would be more effective. What should I consider first?

I’m linked to the provider’s router via your computer through either WiFi or a wired connection. Your ISP is likely a larger provider, possibly using fiber infrastructure that requires specific equipment at the termination point. Third-party routers may not work unless you configure them to bypass or pass through the main gateway. You might want to contact your ISP directly to check if there are any restrictions or if they support alternative setups. Have you attempted reaching out to them for clarification?

This seems excessive for Fiber. I recall @Lurick mentioned two installation methods. One involves an ONT that turns fiber into Ethernet, making any router compatible with standard DHCP. The other uses an ONT combined with a router, requiring the combo unit to support bridge mode or IP Pass Thru. If it does, you can connect a third-party router.

It seems like the problem was mainly about Roblox, trying to bypass lag issues by cutting off users with minor connection drops.

Identify the housing that connects the fiber cable and indicates it offers wireless capabilities. If it matches the one supplying Wi-Fi, it's likely a combined unit.

It only have one modem then a small box which connects the wire from modem (The technician said that it is fine being spilled with water so I think it is not important)
