I don’t rely on a keyboard and mouse except for flight and racing simulations. For everything else, I favor using a keyboard and mouse.

It varies by title; some games suit a controller while others work well with a keyboard and mouse. Witcher 2 is a solid case for using a controller, but many RPGs are better played with standard input devices.

It really varies based on the game. Since I own a Logitech G27 racing wheel, I avoid using pads for that kind of setup. I only use one when someone unfamiliar with keyboards and mice visits. The exceptions were in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and L4D, just to try it out. Overall, I favor keyboards and mice because online shooters give you a big edge. It just feels better now.

Most people agree it varies by game. I favor a controller for third-person adventures where accuracy isn't essential.
