If you're here to review this, thank you. I'll keep it brief, though I might leave out a few details—I'll let you know if I missed anything.
The system specs are: B450 Tomahawk (not MAX), Nvidia RTX 1660, AMD Ryzen 5700x (just bought), RT400 CPU fan (new), Crucial DDR4-2666 16GB RAM, SSD Samsung 860 EVO, Toshiba DT01ACA200, and Crucial BX500 (new).
What I've done so far includes a clean install, updating drivers to the latest versions (AMD Chipset, Nvidia, SSD), resetting CMOS, downloading and disabling the Xbox app, adjusting power plans to ultimate, reapplying CPU paste, and performing chkdsk tasks.
My guess is that something software-related—perhaps a driver or settings issue—is causing problems, though I'm not sure. The game runs without issues when launching it directly, but it occasionally stutters slightly unless I move the mouse or check for errors. It's unclear if this has anything to do with my keyboard/mouse or audio drivers, since I can switch between them without trouble.
I really appreciate any assistance you can provide.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
AMD Ryzen 5700x (recently purchased)
Tell me about yourself before the 5700x.
Did you mention your PSU model, its age, and the BIOS version on your motherboard?
For your setup, the ideal configuration would be DDR4-3200MHz or DDR4-3600MHz with tight latency in dual channels to boost performance. Right now, your setup isn’t quite there.
Thank you for your response.
I used to have a Ryzen 3600 before switching to a 5700x, and it worked well after reapplying thermal paste. At that time, I had a Seasonic G series 650w PSU with the 80 Gold. The BIOS version is E7C02amd.1J5, which appears to be the most recent according to the Tomahawk website.
I might also consider upgrading my RAM if it helps resolve the issue.
