BS. Wow consumes up to six cores. A similarly clocked i5 versus i7 will see a huge boost in performance during raids and towns. When fully loaded, an i5 may struggle to hit 60fps in towns, whereas the i7 remains consistently strong. I own both models and run them together with identical hardware except for the CPUs. I've also tried a non-overclocked 3930K (six cores, twelve threads) and it significantly outperforms the i5. This clearly demonstrates how much time you haven't spent playing Wow, even among hardcore raiders.
WoW stands out as one of the more efficiently built MMOs, though it still faces some API limitations. Until DX12.1 addresses these issues, performance will slow down when rendering many elements simultaneously. A stronger processor can help overcome this, but it won’t fully resolve the problem. Given your existing powerful hardware, you probably won’t need major hardware tweaks. The best approach is to reduce graphical settings—something even a top-tier machine would likely avoid if it could run everything at full capacity.
I didn't say the graphics are bad, actually they're quite stunning and some of the best in the game.
You might want to talk about the slow frame rates during raids, but not in cities. I think I should switch to Skada.
The only difference between the 3 systems I've used to raid is the CPU, with all 3 having very similar GPU's. System A : i5-3570K @ 4.4GHz GTX 970 45-60FPS in Ashran town if there's a lot of people System B : i7-4790K @ stock speeds, 4GHz, non turbo-boosted GTX 780 60FPS solid no matter what I do in Ashran town System C : i7-3930K @ stock settings (3.2 to 3.8GHz turbo boosted) GTX 770, then GTX 980 60FPS on both GPUs no matter what happens in WoW All 3 GPU's are pretty close in performance, with my 970 overclocked to a GTX 980 performance level. System C is stock everything. System B has terrible cooling so it downclocks a lot. System A is the best cooled system of all, with the highest clocks. All 8GB RAM, all Windows 8 on the same driver versions.
Do you have every setting fully enabled? Which server do you use? On my end, it's BlackRock GE. There are many hundreds of players online at the same time in Ashran.
