The games you referred to are typically not heavily demanding on the CPU. Because they're older releases, they usually run smoothly on a single core or very lightly multi-core. Even recent titles generally don't require more than 6–8 cores. A few exceptions exist (like Cyberpunk 2077), but even then the extra benefit of more than 8 cores is minimal. For optimal performance, the 7800X3D remains the top choice, offering better value than most modern Intel CPUs while using less power. The 7950X3D might be justified if you also handle demanding productivity tasks that leverage many cores. The 7900X3D falls short of expectations and is generally not advised. Real differences become noticeable only when you run high-resolution games at low settings with minimal detail, pushing the frame rate down. Increasing graphical features or lowering the frame rate increases the load on the CPU, but unless you're doing intensive work, the impact stays small. Training large language models isn't expected to significantly affect the CPU, focusing more on the GPU instead.

Sure, in a gaming context I’d pick 7800X3D, but for regular use I went with an i7. It’s hard to say if my activities affect performance since they shouldn’t be too demanding.
