So almost every time I turn on my PC it disconnects the router from the internet. A local internet engineer said the PC is emitting signals too strong for the router to manage. I'm really confused about what might be causing this. I've tried disconnecting anything plugged in externally, but the issue persists.

My system specs are:
- Ryzen 5 3600
- 16GB Vengeance LP 3200MHz
- RTX 2070 (OC)
- EVGA 600BR
I also have a USB expansion card.
I have a 1TB SATA SSD for boot, an 1TB NVMe SSD, and a 1TB HDD.

Any advice on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, from BT he had a testing device with him. I think I might have phrased it wrong (I can’t recall the exact word he used). It mentioned a frequency, but it said the router could handle a maximum load. Whatever my PC was emitting when I booted up, it was too much and caused the router to lose internet connection—even when the PC wasn’t connected to the router.

It's a fibre connection with FTTx. The BT Smart Hub 2 is not connected to the router. I've tried using 4G tethering before, but it didn't work without that setup. The router stops connecting to the internet and starts flashing purple. BT has sent several engineers to check, but they all found no real problem—this one was the PC that caused the issue.

If you possess fibre and suspect 4G data on the mobile network creates an issue, then why not combine the fibre connection with ethernet? Or are you implying that the problem lies not with 4G but with the PC itself—even if the phone is off, with no Wi-Fi or Ethernet connected to the router? If the PC operates independently, the available choices are limited:

1) EMI. Excessive electromagnetic interference from the PC. Is the PC housed in a completely enclosed metal enclosure? Does it have a grounded power cable? Could relocating the PC away from the router help? According to the inverse-square law, doubling the distance reduces the EMI power by a quarter. Does the PC support Wi-Fi functionality? Try disabling it if possible.

2) Power supply fluctuations on the circuit. Can you transfer the PC to a different power source?

3) There may be an issue with the router itself.

How near the PC and router are currently? Can we move them farther apart and check again?
