i7 4790k and two r9 290x cards, but I’m using just one ATM. I was experiencing screen tearing because my monitor was set to 60Hz instead of 144Hz. So far, it’s working well and the FC3 looks much better compared to the Unity version. However, entering villages is still challenging as it drops me to 60fps.

I still really dislike how Unity became unplayable, but I got in on the forums just as the UBI hate train arrived.

Capture your drive with a four-wheeled vehicle. I’m not doubting your claim, and I recall AMD released an updated driver after seeing the patch notes for DA:I. However, the game feels like it’s stuttering, especially with cars on a 780ti. Perhaps they could reduce the load when you start playing or implement something in an upcoming update. I watched it on a 780ti with a 4770k (around 4.2), which is likely affected by the silicon update and now available for free. Offline, it works fine. But once you hit a vehicle, microstutter becomes extremely noticeable—like dropping below 60 instantly. I was there for a while. I attempted sparse Vsync (capped at 30 FPS) and it actually worsened the issue, along with triple buffer. Vsync made things worse too. I also lowered the monitor to 59Hz instead of 60, but it didn’t help much. Even users with high-end GPUs report drops into the 40s or 50s when entering a vehicle. I know Nvidia has a new driver coming soon, and I suspect this might be the same problem. It would be hilarious if AMD improved their closed driver library. Still, the game seems to function adequately overall. The cheap version looked better than MSAA, though the trees were over-sharpened. TXAA is terrible—so blurry it’s unplayable. The assets didn’t need heavy anti-aliasing; textures were better than expected. God Rays are sharp. The fog below was awful, and soft shadows were indistinguishable. HBAO? Not worth it. The geometry settings below seemed to be the culprit—possibly causing CPU strain. Maybe lower those values or adjust world settings. It’s possible the issue is tied to vehicle handling. If they fixed the microstuttering, I might seriously consider purchasing it. With an AMD GPU, I’d need solid evidence before buying the game. Check out this thread: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.p...393&page=7 – it notes the performance drop on GTX970 rigs. It seems the problem is likely tied to CPU limits.

After playing for a while, I notice it stutters in vehicles, though it’s not too bad for me. Everything is configured to ultra, motion blur is off, audio is muted, and the sun rays are set to volumetric fog. I don’t recognize those settings—I remember in AC4 they were separate options. The furr is turned off because it looks awkward, and the tree setting is also disabled since I didn’t see any effect. I’m trying to record, hoping it won’t drop the FPS. My main issue is that when I reach the first village, my FPS drops to 50–45, making the game feel jumpy. Recording is failing, and my program crashes when I try to stream it to Twitch with Obs. It’s frustrating since the only option left is FPS dropping by half.

Ahem... given this system and the performance issues, I suspect the problem lies with the user rather than the game itself. We'll see in a few days if it's a broader issue or just an outlier. I'm not sure about the chances of it running smoothly.

Perfect for my needs. (SIG + 270x instead of 290) Works flawlessly... 1080p SMAA - Ultra /w Ambient OCC set to SSAO = 35+FPS consistently. (Typically a bit higher on average)
