I don't see a screen anymore after the failed under-voltage test.
I lowered the voltage on my old AMD FX 8150 from 1.3 V to 1.2 V (a noticeable change). The screen turned off instantly and I haven’t managed to get a display working again. When I turn the computer back on, it makes an initial beep but not the secondary one it usually does after startup. There are no LED warning lights on the motherboard (M5AX99X Evo r 1.1). The heatsink gets warm after some time and the GPU fans start spinning up. I’m trying to figure out if the CPU or motherboard is completely dead, since both appear to be receiving power.
Reset CMOS, remove battery, and swap the CLRRTIC jumper pins to other connections to speed up clear CMOS. Overclocking usually improves FX performance—don’t undervolt unless you’re aiming for efficiency. For better value, sell the unit and trade it for a used Ryzen processor. You might get a B350/450 or X370/470 + 1600 for a few dollars above the board price plus the overclock cost. This could give you more than 1.5x performance.
I removed the battery, placed the jumper in position, but the issue persists. It seems the motherboard and CPU might be fine despite the heat, especially since you were adjusting voltages while experiencing occasional crashes during game loading. Hopefully, leaving things as they are will resolve the problem.
