I aim to improve my nearly 11-year-old CPU without spending too much. I already have a GPU, though it's basic and likely better than an integrated one (like GTX 1050 with 2GB). If possible, I'd like to run Intel Integrated Graphics accelerated tasks efficiently. It should be affordable—around 200 dollars on eBay for a Ryzen 3. This might seem a bit high, but it could work.

Are you sure you need it? You might also consider a Ryzen 4000 or 5000 APU—they’re likely more accessible, though with different costs. For the 5300G, searching for "tray" should help you find the loose version. Never sold, of course. A quick search turned up this link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/294051090205 It’s not exactly what you’re looking for, though—it’s an engineering sample.

You already have a 1050 model, so consider a Core i3 10100 or 10105. Intel’s graphics support is more likely in apps, and CPUs are available for less than $150.

After that point, the path improves significantly.

Same model, but that would be identical for AMD too because they’re also planned to modify the socket in the next generation.

The 1050 surpasses the AMD APU. Consider an I3-10105f motherboard that supports Comet Lake Plus, Rocket Lake, and 2x8GB DDR4 RAM. You can locate everything for under £200 in the UK, making it affordable if you're on a budget. Your next steps could involve upgrading to a GPU and then installing an 11th generation CPU.

The 1050 performs adequately but lacks sufficient VRAM. Stick with it while upgrading your CPU/MBO/ram, or opt for a stronger GPU or wait for better prices. It makes no sense to choose an APU when you already have a reasonably modern dedicated GPU.
