I'll mention that the Windows Vista interface was the reason.

Windows 10 is great, XP remains XP, yet 10 feels much more straightforward.

NT 4.0 (Seriously) It worked well, cleared the way, and you could handle it if you preferred.

10. XP may be loved, but I find it a pain to change settings (like getting eathernet to work) Vista be Vista, 7 is nice, but having a settings app in 10 is nice, even though it doesn't work sometimes. There is a argument to be made for ms-dos though.

Windows Vista. The oddest thing about connecting an Xbox controller was you could control the whole PC, almost like with a PlayStation or Xbox. It surprised everyone because this feature never really gained traction, and nobody ever mentions it. You can mimic it with Steam, but it lacks the original functionality. And side apps like Rainmeter work well.

I consistently appreciated Windows Vista as the top choice I've tried (XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10). The interface was quite impressive.

I still cherish Windows 7, even with a mix of W10 and macOS these days. It stands out to me especially after watching Thomas the Tank Engine. It's funny how I can locate the desktop image if anyone asks about its appearance.
