Linux isn't a distribution in itself—it's merely a kernel with no additional layers. There are many distros that aren't on this list, despite the inclusion of popular ones like Mint, Red Hat, Cent OS, Arch, Mandriva, PCLinuxOS, and more. The original GNU distribution is also absent. It's worth noting that Linux closely resembles Minix, which helped streamline selection by excluding BSD and similar systems. Cheers!

You're right, it's mainly practical for smaller profiles and lower-end hardware. Perhaps a virtual machine could work, but I wouldn't suggest it unless you really want to test it first before committing.

I've had a terrible time with virtual machines, so I no longer use them. They function quite well, especially when contrasted with the Windows 10 I was accustomed to.
