Hey everyone, I realized I probably got a medium tower instead of the large one I expected. I'm facing a challenge now and would appreciate any suggestions on fitting a 7950xtx GPU into a mid-tower setup. If you have ideas, spells, or design plans for a compact version, please share the details so I can adjust accordingly.

In reality, the best fit seems to be using a custom water cooling loop, since it won’t work with the large air cooler. You could also build a DIY setup with a PCIe riser cable and position the GPU at an angle inside the case. For stability, place it on its side with fans facing outward for better airflow, rather than stacking it at the same angle as shown.

The optimal choice without any downsides is a fresh case. You might consider adding a riser cable and exposing the card, though these can cause problems due to extended PCIe wiring. Otherwise… Spoiler

Linus once made a video a few years ago demonstrating that GPU performance remains largely unaffected by riser cables, which typically need to be placed several meters away before problems arise.

It's unusual to hear about a PCIe riser beyond swapping out a tower or riser. It'll likely arrive in a few weeks, so I should start planning now.

Yeah, it shouldn't affect performance, as long as it works. Most current cards don't need or benefit from PCIe 4.0 speeds, so even if you lost performance it wouldn't matter too much. But afaik, there's a certain risk it doesn't work to begin with.

Thanks for reaching out to @Eigenvektor @Inception9269, I managed to get it in too.

I had to swap out the RAM because it didn’t work with my board for the overclock. After trying it with the new RAM paired with the stock 4800, it performed exceptionally well and will improve significantly once a steady 6000MT is achieved. My PC specs are available here: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/61365654
