You're unsure about checking your setup. Look at the BIOS menu for details, and verify the motherboard model listed there.

the specs are listed in the profile, but it's a Ryzen 1600x setup with a Samsung OEM SATA M.2 SSD. all devices are fully disabled during startup except the M.2 drive and my keyboard. as a result, the computer doesn't even attempt to boot from other options.

Navigate to your UEFI settings and locate the Full Screen Boot Logo feature. If it’s turned off, activate it. During startup, observe whether the Asus emblem remains visible until Windows fully loads or if it transitions directly to the Windows logo.

Ok I'll try that once I get home. Thanks! The Asus logo stays on the whole time and then the windows PIN screen (completely responsive) appears - so no blue windows logo. Since you mentioned boot options I'll mention that my boot order is: 1. Windows boot manager (SSD name). 2. SSD name. 3. HDD

The laptop is roughly 9 units. The desktop is around 25 since the SSD isn't performing well and can't handle CSM being turned off properly.

I received both units, though:
1. The SSD uses a M.2 connection.
2. The HDD ended up being defective and wasn’t included in the list.

Someone who knows tech checks the clock on their system startup. It usually takes about 25 seconds, but most of the time it stays asleep so you don’t notice.
